We Have Been Tagged ....

By our friend Sharon at Peek Into Yesterday. So here goes ...

Here are 7 random and/or weird (you be the judge) facts about us (as written by Amy):

1. We like to scrapbook while talking to each other on the phone.

2. We watch Gray's Anatomy on the phone together every week - I tape it when it is on in Texas and we watch together (yes while on the phone) when it is on in California.

3. We LOVE Project Runway.

4. We celebrate our Friend-a-versary on October 12th. Our husbands think we are dorks, but we think that our friendship is worth a special celebration!!

5. Jennifer is a girly girl and I am more of a tomboy! But I am working on it - I can actually apply makeup properly now - and I own hair product - LOL!

6. Sometimes we eat icing with a spoon - but it has to be good icing - yummy buttercream!!!

7. When we see cool scrappy projects - we sometimes hide them from each other so that we can make them for one another.

Now for the rules and who we are tagging.

The rules:
Link to your tagger and post these 3 rules on your blog.
1. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
2. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. My sister turned 40 - earlier this month (Amy)
5. It is the International Year of the Potato http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Year_of_the_Potato
6. Kenny is going to hit double digits this year
7. Jackson will start Kindergaten this year
8. Rachel will graduate from Kindergarten this year
9. Kaden will start pre-school this year
10. The crop to cure diabetes is born this year (in March in Fresno - yippee)

Another Thursday Without Grey's!!

Well here we are - the strike is over but not every show has started to show new episodes yet. In the last 2 plus months I have watched some very different TV for me! From Bruno and Carrie Anne's Dance Wars on ABC to America's Next Dance Team on MTV to Parking Wars on A&E. I am ready for some good old Grey's Anatomy fictional drama. The only saving point in TV over the last while has been that Project Runway has been awesome this season! Jennifer and I watched the reunion show last night and it was so fun to see them show their favourite parts from this season.

Happy Thursday and if you are a Survivor fan tonight's episode is supposed to be good. Maybe there will be a new GA soon!!!!!!

Little Blue Hat

During Kaden's first year, we had his photo taken in this darling blue hat that was knitted as a gift for him. Nicci, at Moments Captured did the most incredible job of documenting his growth from age 4 weeks to 1 year. I have always wanted a special way to store this hat and this month at Mojo we were given these shadow boxes from C & T Publishing to alter and it was the perfect place to put this little hat. I added one of my favorite photos from all the sessions along with a pocket to write about the year and add some additional wallet sized photos.

More Eye Candy

I don't know how much of this stuff is new, pictures are all over blogland, but here are a few more pics from CHA. I loved all the brilliant colors of so many of the companies as well as the embellishments that are already "embellished" so to speak. See the Glitz guys below. So much fun stuff!

Make new friends but keep the old

One is silver and the other gold. I have always loved that little Brownie song and it seems fitting for this first CHA post. As I was getting more into scrapbooking a few years ago, Amy told me all about this company that she absolutely adored. That company was/is Sweetwater. Since then, it has become one of my favorite scrapbooking lines not only because they make beautiful papers and embellishments, but also because this company is lovingly run by the most gracious and creative women I know in the scrapbooking industry. I promised Amy I would take lots of pictures of their new CHA release and I did not disappoint. I can't wait to have each and every line from this release (maybe not the baby girl, but we'll see about that too) I am most excited about the fact that their new lines are all double sided! Yahoo! Here are just a couple of pics from their CHA booth -

What WAS your style

Well Jennifer is at CHA and while she is gone she posted a challenge at Scrappin Mojo. It is to post our very first layout. Well my very first layout was when I was 10. I had to make a book for the pictures I took for my Photography badge in Girl Guides. Gotta love the lined paper I used - not sure why I did not use plain paper but ... hey I was 10.

Then I got to looking at my first photo safe album - our wedding album. All the pages are versions of blue and green and silver. I bought a pack of blue and a pack of green papers - exactly the same packs - with different designs in them. Bought matching alpha stickers or used stencils and I was also VERY into my Coluzzle - thought the puzzle one was the best. Yup here is a page from our wedding album. Oh and blue and green were NOT our wedding colours - ROFL! Oh and I was an 8.5x11 scrapper and these pages are in a school binder - gotta love our starting points!

Happy Birthday Jason!!!

Well today is Jason's birthday. We asked Rachel how old Daddy was going to be and she said 54! I said well no honey Daddy is going to be 35. To this Jason answered "I am only going to be 34 - YOU are going to be 35". Rachel has chosena very ecclectic birthday celebration for Daddy ... Tinkerbell, Cars, Spiderman, Hello Kitty and Star Wars. Gotta love a kid who can make up her mind - LOL.

Here is what the king of the dorks wanted for his birthday ... I understand wanting a shredder - but for your birthday????

I found out yesterday I was chosen as one of the Island Girls at Creative Scrap Shack

I am very exicted as this site is amazing! The girls are super fun, the gallery totally inspiring, and the pool boys aren't bad to look at either. Amy just came and joined me too. Grab a fruity drink and pop in and say hi!

QVC me!

Did anyone else check out the crafting day on QVC? I missed out on a couple of things I thought were worth having, but I just love these days anyway. I like to watch and be inspired by pages that are shown, new products, and all things scrappy. It makes me want to get my goodies out and start creating! So, what caught your eye?

On another note, I MUST go shopping! Ken said it was okay to get a new outfit to go to CHA and I haven't a moment alone to get out. Here's crossing my fingers I will be able to find something in a hurry when Kaden goes to Little Sprouts on Thursday morning. Until then - happy scrappin'!

The tree layout

Remember the vanderkooi Christmas tree Saga ... (http://jenniferandamy.blogspot.com/2007/12/vanderkooi-christmas-tree-part-deux.html)

Well here is the layout talking about our 3 trees ...
1. - the tree that we got that was SO stinky
2. tree #2 from home Depot - the one that fell down in the middle of the night
3. The final tree - the one that made it to Christmas day!!

100 Days of School

Well Friday was Rachel's 100th day of school and they had a little party to celebrate! She had to take in a 100 item collection. She chose to take some of my scrapbook flowers .. we counted out 10 colours - 10 flowers each. Yup I had that many in my stash BUT the sad part ... taking 100 away did not put much of a dent in the collection - haha. Thursday night Rachel decided she wanted to wear a special shirt for 100 days ... so we went over to Michael's and got some iron-on ladybugs and numbers. The bugs came 60 to a sheet so I just ironed the entire sheet on and then cut the remaining 40 and fit them on. Here she is ready to go to school - she wanted to take real flowers to her teacher.
